City Council / School Committee Inauguration (Updated)

Update

Sumbul Siddiqui has been chosen as mayor and Burhan Azeem as vice mayor.

The new city council and school committee members will be inaugurated on January 5th, 2026.

The city council inauguration will take place at 10 AM at City Hall, 795 Massachusetts Ave. At inauguration, the mayor and vice mayor will be chosen by the new city council. The new council members will be:

• Ayah A. Al-Zubi
• Catherine Zusy
• Burhan Azeem (Vice Mayor)
• Jivan G. Sobrinho-Wheeler
• Timothy R. Flaherty
• E. Denise Simmons
• Patricia M. Nolan

The school committee inauguration will take place at 6PM at the Turk Auditorium, Tobin Montessori/Darby Vassall Upper Schools, 181/183 Vassal Lane. In addition to the mayor who has yet to be chosen, the new school committee members will be:
